Client: Cambridge Assessment English

Cambridge Assessment English is an exam board, part of the Cambridge Assessment Group, a non-teaching department of the University of Cambridge.

Thieves Kitchen were asked to create two films for Cambridge Assessment English, to explain the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) and the Cambridge English Scale. Both the CEFR and Cambridge English Scale are used to assess the progress of students worldwide, learning English.

We had a lot of infographic material to communicate within each film. Our treatment was to show the journey of English language learning with forward and upward steps. As a nod to the heritage and credibility of Cambridge University, we shot background plates on the steps of the Fitzwilliam Museum and then composited graphic elements, designed sympathetically to Cambridge Assessment English’s new brand identity.

Cambridge English exams are recognised by over 20,000 universities, employers and governments around the world.
